After a brief phone call to determine whether the practice is a good fit for your needs, we will schedule a 75-minute initial consultation.

Before Your First Appointment
You will be asked to complete intake forms through a secure patient portal. You may also fax any recent lab work ahead of time or bring with you to your appointment.

My toolbox
General Psychiatry

I offer comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and treatment planning, which may include starting, adjusting, or tapering psychiatric medications when appropriate.

My approach to psychiatry is thoughtful and conservative. As a society, we often rely on quick fixes without considering long-term implications. I prioritize:

-
Using the lowest effective dose of medication
-
Exploring non-medication approaches whenever possible
-
Thoughtful prescribing with an emphasis on safety and sustainability

I have extensive experience helping patients safely taper off medications, including benzodiazepines and antidepressants, which can be associated with significant withdrawal symptoms.

In addition, I assess for underlying medical factors that may impact mood, cognition, and functioning, and I collaborate with your other healthcare providers to ensure your physical health concerns are adequately addressed.

Medical & Biological Assessment may include:

-
Evaluation of thyroid, hormonal, nutritional, and vitamin levels
-
Addressing nutritional and vitamin deficiencies with high-quality supplements
-
Referrals for hormone replacement therapy when indicated
-
Pharmacogenetic testing (Genomind or GeneSight) to guide safer, more effective medication choices based on your unique genetic profile
Psychotherapy
I provide psychotherapy that is present-focused and past-informed, tailored to your individual needs.
Modalities I use include:

-
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
-
Psychodynamic therapy
-
Interpersonal therapy
-
Mindfulness-based approaches
-
Motivational interviewing
-
Positive psychology
-
Somatic psychotherapy

If you would benefit from a therapy I do not specialize in (such as EMDR), I am happy to provide referrals. I also collaborate closely with your existing therapist if you wish to continue psychotherapy elsewhere while focusing on psychiatric or integrative care with me.

Mindfulness, Meditation, and Yoga

Many mental health challenges arise from ruminating on the past (depression) or worrying about the future (anxiety). Mindfulness skills help cultivate presence—the foundation for meaningful and engaged living.

Meditation and mindfulness practices can support:

-
Emotional regulation
-
Stress reduction
-
Improved sleep
-
Anxiety and panic symptoms

Traditional psychiatry often overlooks the mind–body connection. Humans are not just thinking minds—we are embodied beings. The pressures of modern life can disconnect us from our bodies, emotions, and intuition, leading to burnout, chronic pain, numbness, or a diminished sense of vitality.

Yoga and mindfulness practices help restore this connection by grounding you in your physical experience and increasing emotional awareness. I can:

-
Teach mindfulness and yoga-based skills during sessions
-
Provide handouts and curated resources
-
Refer you to trauma-informed, one-on-one yoga providers and other mind–body therapies for deeper support

Supplements and Herbal Medicine

I assess whether natural supplements and herbs—such as minerals, fatty acids, cofactors, probiotics, and botanical medicines—may support your mental health. I ensure these options are safe, evidence-informed, and compatible with any medications you are taking.

Personalized supplement recommendations may be used as complementary treatments, not replacements for necessary medical care.

Lifestyle Interventions

Lifestyle plays a profound role in mental health, yet modern life often works against what the human body and nervous system need to thrive. Together, we will assess areas of your life that may be contributing to stress, stagnation, or imbalance—and identify realistic changes aligned with your values.

My role is not to tell you who to be or how to live, but to help uncover habits or patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and to support you in creating more freedom, vitality, and meaning in your life.

Lifestyle areas we may explore include:

Movement
-
Current activity levels and movement patterns
-
Identifying forms of movement or exercise that best support your mental health
Nutrition
-
Assessing dietary patterns
-
Exploring nutritional approaches such as anti-inflammatory, ketogenic, or paleo diets when appropriate
Substance Use and Habits
-
Assessing alcohol, recreational drugs, screen time, shopping, and other behaviors
-
Addressing habits in a non-judgmental, motivational, and supportive way
Work and Purpose
-
Job satisfaction, burnout, performance, and growth
-
Alignment between your work and personal values
Spirituality and Meaning
-
Religious or spiritual beliefs
-
Sense of purpose, connection, or existential exploration
Relationships and Sexual Health
-
Emotional and relational dynamics
-
Romantic relationships and intimacy
-
Sexual health and satisfaction
